Anyone who lives in a home needs this Arctic Entry Way Hack. The amount of cold air that enters with family members hauling wood into the house, or coming in from the cold can take hours of heating to dissipate.

One of the first things those in cold climates plan in their house design is a way to close off the main entry with an enclosed area to stop drafts and lessen heat loss.

Either a mud room or a long entry hallway works for maintaining an air lock type system, preventing the cold air from infiltrating every time the door is opened, or even if the door is leaking warmth through poor weather stripping.

One of the most common faults in even modern houses is a badly fitting door, with little to no weather stripping to minimize the warmth of the house being lost to the cold outdoors.

The older the home, the more likely it will be drafty around windows and doors. This hack will make it possible to stay cozy and warm all winter.

If you rent, you know that very few landlords will appreciate the building of any kind of structure, so how do you separate the door from the rest of the house?

So keep your heating costs down with this simple hack. You don't need two by four construction to achieve this effect,  just a few items that you may already have, like a comforter or blanket that you no longer need, a closet or extendable rod to fit your space, and some curtain rings.

The rod in this case is an expandable one, which you can buy at any hardware store to fit your span, and the curtain rings clip on to the quilt or blanket. This makes it possible to reuse the blanket during the rest of the year when you no longer need it for the arctic entry way.

In addition to the quilt, if you're finding it doesn't fit well at the bottom, would be to use a doormouse, which is a stuffed snake to seal off the bottom of the door, or in this case, the quilt.
